What is RWA?

RWA = Real World Assets — putting real-world things (Treasury bills, bonds, gold, real estate, private credit, invoices) onto a blockchain as tradeable tokens. The token represents legal ownership of the underlying asset, and the asset's value (like a T-bill yield) is what backs the token.

Two broad flavors:

• Tokenized funds — money-market / Treasury products that pay a yield. This is the biggest slice by far right now (BlackRock's BUIDL, Ondo's USDY/OUSG, Tether Gold/PAX Gold, etc.).
• Tokenized credit/real estate/infrastructure — private loans, mortgages, property, insurance, energy infrastructure.

How it works on Sui specifically

Sui is one of the chains positioning itself for RWAs, leaning on a few design features (general knowledge, not a verified stat):

• Parallel transaction execution and near-instant finality — useful for assets like tokenized credit where settlement speed and throughput matter.
• zkLogin — lets users authenticate with Google/Apple/email credentials instead of a private key. For institutions and retail onboarding into regulated asset products, this removes a big friction point.
• Programmable objects and strong ownership model — Sui's object model supports the kind of control/compliance logic (whitelists, transfer restrictions, regulatory flags) that tokenized securities often require.
• DeepBook (Sui's native order book) and a growing DeFi ecosystem give tokenized assets somewhere to trade.

The RWAs on Sui are mostly yield-bearing tokenized funds and institutional credit products rather than a single famous "Sui RWA coin" — the ecosystem there is still earlier-stage than Ethereum's, where most of the large tokenized-fund market cap sits today.

The RWA sector overall is dominated by Ethereum-side products (per the live category data):

• BlackRock BUIDL — ~$2.8B market cap
• Circle USYC — ~$2.7B
• Tether Gold (XAUt) — ~$2.6B
• Ondo USDY — ~$2.2B
• PAX Gold — ~$1.9B
• Ondo (ONDO) — the governance token of the Ondo Finance ecosystem, ~$1.6B

A couple of those trade on Sui as well as Ethereum, but the reference products are Ethereum-first.
