What is AI crypto?

AI crypto is the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain/crypto. It's not one single thing — it spans a few different (loosely related) categories:

• AI-focused blockchains — L1/L2 networks built to run AI workloads or host AI agents (e.g. Bittensor's decentralized machine-learning network, or projects tokenizing compute).
• AI tokens/coins — projects that use token incentives to crowdsource data, training, or inference (Render for GPU compute, Fetch.ai for autonomous agents).
• AI agent platforms — frameworks where autonomous agents transact, execute trades, or manage assets on-chain, often with their own token.
• AI + DePIN — decentralized physical infrastructure networks that monetize GPUs and data through tokens.

Why the hype: the narrative marries two fast-moving trends — AI's real-world adoption and crypto's token-based incentive models. AI crypto is consistently one of the most-searched sectors because the narrative is strong, but it's also volatile and crowded: plenty of projects are long on buzzwords and short on actual shipped product.

The honest caveat: "AI crypto" as a category is driven largely by narrative and speculation. Most projects are young, small-cap, and highly volatile, and many tokens tagged "AI" have little to do with actual AI tech. It's a sector to research carefully project-by-project rather than treat as a theme.
