Is Photon safe?

Photon (photon-sol.tools) isn't in our curated tools directory, so I can't vouch for it the way I can for tools we've actually vetted — what follows is general background knowledge, not a verified product review.

What it is: Photon is one of the more widely used third-party Solana trading terminals for meme coins — fast swaps, sniping, new-token alerts. On the surface it's legitimate and popular, but "safe" for a tool like this comes down to a few things:

• It's not in our directory. We only formally vetted the tools listed below. Photon is a third-party web app outside that set.
• Phishing clones are the real danger. There are many fake Photon sites that copy the UI and steal your wallet via malicious approvals. Only use the exact, well-known domain — never a link from an ad, DM, or search result you didn't verify.
• Wallet approval model. A terminal like this connects to your Solana wallet. You should review each transaction and never grant it broad, unlimited authority to your wallet, especially from a fresh wallet you care about.
• New-coin risk, not tool risk. The token trades it executes are mostly unvetted meme coins — the tool itself being fine doesn't make the coins safe.

So: the app is a known, popular product, but it's unvetted by us, phishing clones are rampant around it, and every trade carries the usual thin-liquidity / no-lock risk of new Solana tokens.
